This is significant because the whole world won't be on the NLT servers for several weeks, so people will get the "2 minute" error a lot. * People are experiencing "Problem connecting to server - trying in 2 minutes" errors with NLT Landsat in alpha6, when they are trying to view areas that aren't yet on the server. • When I click on a hotspot at WW Central I get the following message from Firefox: "worldwind is not a registered protocol" (I'm running 1.3a6)
  • Canadian place names (e.g. provinces) that are different in English and French (not all are different) print both languages one on top of the other so neither is able to be read. Would be nice to print both but a little displaced so both can be read
  • People are experiencing "Problem connecting to server - trying in 2 minutes" errors with NLT Landsat in alpha6, when they are trying to view areas that aren't yet on the server. The server returns 404 (tile not found) on those occasions; WW should treat it as a non-critical error instead of an error that causes WW to stop downloading tiles for 2 minutes. This is significant because the whole world won't be on the NLT servers for several weeks, so people will get the "2 minute" error a lot.
  • Screenshots retain their original extension (png) even when you change it in the drop down box.
  • When WW is started the position information is not toggeled, when toggeled the cross hairs appears, but the show cross hairs in the view menu is not ticked.
  • One push of the scroll wheel on my mouse zooms through about 2,000 metres at 10,000 meters...any way to make one push zoom through 500 meters (smoother zooming)...I know I can use the 2 buttons to get smoother zooming, but the scroll wheel is more intuitive
  • Some layers show up with radio buttons when they shouldn't.
  • Can we get rid of the icon tooltips? Most are redundant (say the same thing as the icon itself) and are a little annoying (block the image)(future icons [like the western and eastern hemisphere icons] and add-ons might not have text in icon, so i [trisan] disagree)
    • ok trisan, can we at least have an option to turn them off then?
    • Top toolbar tooltips?
    • Nah, still too intrusive. Most icons are self-explanatory, those that aren't can be made so
  • Layer manager resize cursor appears above the layer manager.
  • terrain problems? This San Fran view looked great in 1.2e, but with 1.3a3 there are now hills in the middle of the water (!) blocking the view of the Golden Gate bridge: [1] [greg:appears to be related to the rest of the SRTM data being really screwed up.]
    • [rich] Problem still exists in Alpha 5. This would be pretty embarrassing to show up in the official 1.3 release. See this Embarrassing San Francisco View.

  • On 1st and subsequent boots after install the following message:"File or assembly name Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX, or one of its dependencies, was not found." (but WW1.2e works fine); the build machine needs DirectX SDK Summer 2003. [fixed? -jessi]
    • Problem still exists in Alpha5
  • Layer Manager needs windows like buttons "X" "+" "-" "check" etc.. what's up with the pound symbol :) check out [2]
    • What language is your computer set to? [Windows Language] [CM]
      • I have the same problem in 1.3 alpha 2 - my input locale is set to English, United Kingdom. Language is Western Europe and United States.
      • I'm so glad someone else has this problem. Turns out this is a result of missing the font wingdings2 and windings3. Might scrounge for them. Maybe a fix coming / maybe not. Llynix

  • Maximizing the WW window by double-clicking its title bar often triggers a button click
  • When maximizing the WW window, the spot a user is looking at (window center) should be preserved.
  • DX Issue mainly I think. Launched NetMeeting then 1.3, screen went black for about 10 seconds. Came back on with a message: "Could not find compatable video card" I think the video requirements are too much pull on the system to run both.
  • I get texture jitter and placename jitter when zooming in close. I have turned off Temporal Anti-Aliasing, normal AA is at 2x oversampling. I can fix it most of the time by clicking once to make sure motion is stopped. (ah)
  • The SRTM data seems to be way off in most regions of the world [CM: Eastern hemisphere...fixing]
  • When Planet Gravity is on, the download of data seems to slow markedly when you're panning or navigating around WW. When you stop moving the view around, the download picks back up again. I just tested and this seems to happen with Planet Gravity either on or off -- when the screen's redrawing, the image downloads slow considerably.
  • Boundaries seems to be broken, zoomed out US shows US-Canada and US-Mexico borders only, no states (ah) [mashiharu:unable to reproduce]

  • Maximize window via double-click on title/titie bar == full framerate, maximize via Alt-Enter == jerky framrate. [adamhill 22-02-05]
  • In some windowsizes (not full size) the 2minutes/404 message is hidden behind the Layer Manager
  • If we possibly can, modify code so that it loads xml files from Config\Earth first, then loads up Add-on config files from Add-ons/Earth/*.xml or if perhaps Add-ons/Earth/ADDONNAME/*.xml or Add-ons/Earth/ADDONNAME/Configuration/*.xml (whatever people think is the best..)
  • 48x32 png's that we used to use for icons look like crap. Perhaps changing the icon code so that these icons don't rescale? Or rescale saving proportions? Then center the icon vertically.
  • Layer manager checked state not updated in main menu when layer manager is closed with the checkbox.
  • Hitting CRTL-D causes error in latest CVS(Alpha 6):

An error has occurred - Could not load type WorldWind.Net.Monitor.ProgressMonitor from assembly WebDownload, Version=1.2.1883.33016, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null.(23/02/205 ah)

  • Both .jpg and (uncompressed) .dds files remain in the cache for highres imagery. Seems to be for level 0 layers only. Also, for the terrain cache, both the .7z and .bil files remain in the cache. This seems to be on all levels.
  • All tile updates stop if SRTM (maybe others) server does not respond, background worker thread will pause and wait (a long time) for a timeout.

Fix submitted

  • Position information and menubutton popout text is "crashing" (meaning: 'Toolbar button'-text is unreadable when it's on top of 'Position information'-text) -- Pos info fadeout added. Mashiharu 04:37, 25 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Love the new "spacebar" feature but could 2 rapid hits on the spacebar quickly reset heading=0 and altitude=12,000km all at once (rather than waiting for heading to revert to 0, then zooming out)?
    • Improved double-space response, feedback requested --Mashiharu 04:34, 25 Feb 2005 (MST)
    • Much better, thanks, but could delay between 2 rapid hits of the spacebar be tightened up a little more to make it snappier? wwfreak Better? --Mashiharu 05:59, 26 Feb 2005 (MST)
    • yep much better now thanks mashi
  • Start loading tiles in a windowed World Wind, maximize window, watch progress bar separate from NASA icon. Screenshot --Mashiharu 04:29, 25 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • With tilt in the URI, e.g. worldwind://goto/world=Earth&lat=48.03975&lon=15.85190&alt=95000&tilt=90.0, the Altitude differs depending of the Tilt, in the example about 10000 metres, with lower Tilt there is higher Altitude, but not the correct Altitude --Mashiharu 14:49, 24 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Does not piggyback and use IE's proxy settings.. can still not be used behind an authenticated proxy [SF: it's in Tools->StartupWizard now, though there's no auth support yet] --Mashiharu
  • Motion momentum doesn't work when north-lock is on --Mashiharu
  • Longitude labels are sometimes larger than 180 degrees. --Mashiharu 05:20, 24 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Camera is very sensitve to banking when zooming (RMB+LMB) now, same for tilting to see mountains. [adamhill 22-02-05]
    • Changed the mouse movement to be viewport size dependent. Moving across the window now gives same rotation regardless of screen resolution/window size. Better? --Mashiharu 09:33, 23 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • PickingRayIntersection fails when rotated (movement in wrong direction) [ SF: Seems fixed, can anyone confirm?] --Mashiharu 10:12, 22 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Holding the mouse button over the Prehistoric Hillforts addon gives the name: Prehistoric Hillforts in Sarpsborg, Norwayl. --Mashiharu 10:39, 21 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • \Config\Earth\Landmark catalog.xml has invalid character set [SF: I don't want this in 1.3 yet anyway] --Mashiharu 10:33, 21 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Response to mouse movement much less responsive and jerkier than in 1.2e
    • Better now? --Mashiharu 10:30, 21 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Position information disappears when layer manager is opened --Mashiharu 17:10, 20 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Resize cursor (e.g. <->) of tool windows (e.g. Place Finder) does not appear (flickers only briefly) --Mashiharu 05:50, 20 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Zooming in past the earth surface will cause World Wind to freeze.
    • If you zoom in close to the surface and select 10x vertical exaggeration the window goes black, reverting to any other exaggeration does not fix it. --Mashiharu 04:26, 20 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Layer Manager keeps losing layers if you repeatedly select different layers by clicking on the tall rectangular icons. All entries below the one you click can disappear. This is repeatable especially in the high res images sub-menu, and needs a restart of the program to bring them back. [CM:Fixed]
  • Icons are still buggy, try any add-on with tons of icons. The don't disappear around the earth correctly.
    • Fixed broken view frustum calculations. [mashi]
  • With the latest (ww13-debug-jessi-20050217-2331.zip) version, I now get: "The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX' does not match the assembly reference". Using the Microsoft.*.dll files from WorldWind v1.2e. Maybe this might help. Seems it's looking for a version 1.0.1901.0 (It's not summer '03 and not Feb. '05 ManagedDX).
  • Windows Add Remove Page. Hard to tell which World Wind is World Wind. (1.2 and 1.3) [Fixed, now it's NASA World Wind v{MajorVersion} - Ll]

Closed

  • Highly highly recommend we change default MODIS from the current 4 months to two weeks. That should cut MODIS start up time by a considerable ammount. Even a month would be decent. Users can always adjust back. [mashi: 15-20 seconds load time]
  • The top menu bar toggles layers instead of switching them [CM:Fixed]
  • The top menu bar doesn't reflect changes made with the LayerManager [CM:Fixed]
  • Toolbar is shown when you save screenshot, shouldn't be [CM:Fixed]
  • Layer manager under 'Tools' brings up the old style layer manager [CM:Fixed]
  • The red frame around a tile being downloaded should stay on-screen until the tile is updated, not disappear before [CM:Fixed]
  • Download indicator seems gone [CM:Fixed]
  • Text such as position and wms messages appear on top of the menubar [CM:Fixed]
  • After the right mouse button is pressed and the camera is tilted the menubar doesnt highlight again until you left click [CM:Fixed]
  • how engmike broke worldwind Llynix fixed it, DirectX problems (And then he really fixed it :) but then mike broke it again!
  • Toolbar cannot be moved or turned on or off [CM:Fixed]
  • Rapid Fire Modis doesn't "hide" when using ToolBar to close dialog [CM:Fixed]
  • Motion momentum seems always on [mashi:Fixed]
  • Most tool windows have the default VS.Net icon [mashi:Fixed]
  • The planet gravity item in the view menu does not get ticked when it is selected [mashi:Fixed]
  • No icons are displayed for add-ons [TS: I could get the NWS NEXTRAD icon to show][CM:Fixed]
    • Frustum problem, if you tilt at the right altitude they appear [mashi]
    • Could import an add-on, but could not get the images releated to the add-on to load (moved the releated imaged into the add-ons folder and did edit the xml to look there for the images)
  • The 'toggle position information' menu button does nothing? [CM:Fixed]
  • Icons in add-ons now show but vanish at certain angles, also they are always on-scrren they do not vanish behind the planet [CM:Fixed]
  • With "PLantet Gravity" on.. makes it hard to move to exactly where you want to go. Suggest default should be off. [SF:Chris wants it on by default]
  • Easy typo fix please - 'panshapened' should be 'pansharpened'or 'pan-sharpened'. Spelt wrongly in 1.2e also. [Ll:Fixed]
  • Most layers don't have download indicator icons [Ll: Fixed the layers that should have one.. ]
